Public Service gets New Principal Secretary

H.E. President Uhuru Kenyatta presided over the swearing in ceremony of the newly appointed Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries on 28th February, 2020 at State House, Nairobi.

Among those sworn in was Mrs. Mary Kimonye Principal Secretary for the State Department for Public Service.

Mrs. Kimonye takes over the docket with a wealth of experience in the public sector spanning 13 years. From 2009 to 2015 she served as CEO of Brand Kenya. Prior to her current appointment she served as Principal Administrative Secretary for the State Department for Public Service from 2018 to 2020.

The new Principal Secretary, took oath of office together with six Principal Secretaries and two new Cabinet Secretaries.

Welcoming the appointees into their new positions. H.E the President asked the new officials to tackle the challenges of corruption and lack of integrity which have hindered development in the country, affirming that the two vices shall not be tolerated.

“The evil of corruption must come to an end. I expect you to support me in ending it,” the President said as he informed the CSs and PSs that he expects nothing short of total commitment to integrity.

The President assured the officials that he remains ready to guide them and support them in delivering services to Kenyans.

The new Principal Secretary will also be overseeing priority public service transformation programs that include civil service succession management, Research Development and Public Service Delivery Innovations, Government Payroll Policy and Standards, Internship and Volunteer Policy for Public Service and Co-ordination of Huduma Centres.
